150 young trees were donated to schools and kindergartens in Sevastopol as part of the “Victory Gardens” campaign

On the eve of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol from the Nazi invaders, Sevprirodnadzor donated seedlings to educational institutions in the city for planting.

A total of 150 kelreuteriums, frames and white maples will serve as a living memorial to the heroes. The selected breeds are well adapted to the local climate and are resistant to drought and urban conditions.

The all-Russian campaign “Victory Gardens” is more than just landscaping. This is a tribute to those who forged the Great Victory, and to those who today protect the peaceful sky. By participating in the event, children preserve the memory of the exploits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and special military operations.

For the children, we chose the most spectacular plants that will take root in our region — the trees will serve as a memory for a long time and decorate the city. We plan to carry out a similar initiative in subsequent years, — said Director of Sevprirodnadzor Yulia Gavrilova.

In Sevastopol, the “Victory Gardens” event is held annually and has become a good tradition. Schoolchildren and kindergarten students, together with teachers, plant trees on the territories of educational institutions, at memorials and in public gardens.

In the future, the children themselves will take care of the seedlings, under the guidance of biology and ecology teachers. This is not only a practical lesson in environmental management, but also an opportunity to feel personally involved in preserving the memory and beauty of one’s hometown.
