22 billion rubles will be allocated for the implementation of water supply projects in Alushta and Yalta
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Russian government has allocated 22 billion rubles to solve water supply problems in the resort towns of Alushta and Yalta on the southern coast of Crimea. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, announced this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin:
On your instructions, two reservoirs are included in the national project. This is in Alushta and Yalta, to provide resort cities directly. 22 billion rubles, money allocated by the government [РФ] on your instructions.
He clarified that the relevant projects will be implemented within two years.
In May 2014, Ukraine cut off the flow of water to Crimea through the North Crimean Canal from the Kherson region; it provided 90% of the peninsula’s needs. In 2020, the water supply situation in Crimea became critical due to drought; it was resolved in the summer of 2021, when there were heavy rains. Water in the Republic of Crimea is accumulated in reservoirs, the level of which significantly depends on precipitation, and also comes from the rivers that feed the reservoirs.
