30% of residents of the Southern Federal District consider Crimea the most romantic destination

53% of residents of the Southern Federal District noted that summer is the most successful time of year for a romantic trip. 43% of surveyed residents of the district consider a country house in nature with a bathhouse to be the most successful accommodation format for such a trip.

According to the results of a survey by the Avito Travel* service, every fourth respondent considers St. Petersburg the most romantic destination for a trip for two. The top 5 holiday destinations also included Altai and Baikal, which are especially interesting for young people aged 25-34.

26% of respondents were in favor of white nights and drawbridges in the Northern Capital**. Crimea took second place in the ranking (23%). It was rated especially highly by women (26%) and survey participants aged 35-44 (27%). Also in the top 5 preferences were Sochi and the Black Sea coast, Altai (21%) and Baikal (20%), and the power of Baikal’s nature is more often called romantic by tourists aged 25–34 (24%).

The top rating of the survey largely coincides with the actual reservations of tourist accommodation on Avito Travel on February 14. As of this date, Russians booked the most daily apartments in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Krasnodar region, Tatarstan and the Sverdlovsk region.

Among the 15 most popular regions for Valentine’s Day, bookings of daily apartments grew the most over the year in the Yaroslavl region (+57% year-on-year), Bashkortostan (+42%), Nizhny Novgorod (+33%) and Sverdlovsk regions (+23%).

Most travelers surveyed (65%) see summer as the ideal time to travel with their loved one, and this view is most popular among respondents over 65 (73%). Only 10% of survey participants choose to organize a trip as a surprise. According to tourists, the best approach is joint planning (43%), which allows taking into account each other’s wishes. Those surveyed also rely on reading reviews and blogs (20%), choosing a trusted place (17%) or advice from friends (16%).

The opinion of travelers clearly segments the demand for housing. Thus, a country house with a bathhouse and a hotel with service are most often called suitable options for romance. At the same time, hotels are especially popular among women and tourists over 65 years of age, and young people, according to the survey, are more inclined to choose modern apartments with city views or boutique hotels. Compared to Valentine’s Day last year, Russians booked 28% more countryside properties. Such housing is most actively rented in the Moscow and Leningrad regions, Kemerovo region and Karelia. Among the top 15 regions by popularity, the most noticeable increase in armor is observed in the Yaroslavl (+93% compared to February 14 last year) and Irkutsk regions (+79%), the Perm Territory (+72%) and the Nizhny Novgorod region (+48%).
