A 3D model of the main building was created at the Crimean Federal University
Specialists of the laboratory «FabLab» KFU. V.I. Vernadsky created a 3D model of the buildings and territory of the main building of the Crimean Federal University.
The most difficult thing was preparing for the modeling: searching for photographs and videos in which the university can be examined in detail from all sides. We didn’t have any drawings, so we had to recreate the general proportions and small details ourselves. The result is a very reliable model, in which almost everything looks like in life — the number and shape of windows on each facade, the slope of the landscape, the pattern of the tiles. We tried to correctly reproduce even the plant species – the press service of the university quotes Svetlana Yudina, the chief specialist of the FabLab laboratory at KFU.
Another important task that was solved was optimization of the model. The final version turned out to be about 250 thousand polygons, which, according to experts, is not so much for a project with high detail.
The model already looks quite complete, but in fact it can be improved almost endlessly: adding textures and small details, changing lighting conditions, etc. And of course, you can try to simulate the inside of buildings, but this is not a job for one month,” the creators of the model specify.
Do you want to modify the model yourself, or do you need it for your non-commercial projects? Write to the FabLab laboratory at: email@example.com us about your project and receive a 3D model file of KFU.
