A courier of telephone scammers who intended to convert stolen money into cryptocurrency was detained in Sevastopol
Having received operational information that a 20-year-old Crimean was heading to the hero city for illegal activities, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol detained an attacker with a large sum of money.
It was established that a young man, in search of income, came across a vacancy for a courier, namely, he was supposed to receive money from citizens and deliver it at the direction of the curator to a specific address. While performing one of the tasks, the attacker took from an 86-year-old pensioner from the village. Krasnogvardeyskoye, Republic of Crimea 385 thousand rubles and had to deliver the specified amount to Sevastopol, where they would help him convert the money into cryptocurrency. The guy could have received five thousand rubles for his work, but the plans were thwarted by Sevastopol operatives. They detained the suspect in the city and seized the stolen funds, — reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
As it turned out, investigators of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Krasnogvardeisky district are already investigating a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, initiated at the request of a pensioner deceived by swindlers. Crimean operatives delivered the detainee to the place of preliminary investigation to bring him to criminal responsibility.
