A 46-year-old resident of Simferopol received a million-dollar fine for attempting to bribe an intelligence officer. The press service of the regional department of the FSB reports this. According to the department, the defendant, the head of a department of one of the enterprises in the city of Saki, offered an FSB officer a bribe to “resolve the issue” of terminating a criminal case against him for theft.
For canceling the results of operational investigative activities, the entrepreneur offered the intelligence officer 500 thousand rubles,” the FSB clarified.
The Crimean prosecutor’s office added that the defendant fictitiously hired a relative. He was caught red-handed by FSB officers. The court found the defendant guilty of attempted bribery and sentenced him to a fine of 1 million rubles. The money intended for the bribe was confiscated to the state.
