A monument to the accident liquidators will be erected in Yalta
To mark the 40th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a long-awaited monument will be erected on Moskovskaya Street
The monument will appear on the 40th anniversary of the tragedy in the park on Moskovskaya, in front of school-lyceum No. 9. And at the school itself it is planned to open a museum about the liquidation of this accident. A long-awaited event, the implementation of a very long-standing initiative of the Yalta public organization of disabled people “Memory of Chernobyl”. Now, at the site of its installation, work has been completed on arranging the formwork for the granite pedestal — a sculptural composition made of arch concrete and metal will be located on it,” the press service quotes the head of the Yalta administration, Yanina Pavlenko.
According to her, the concept was developed by the Honorary Citizen of Yalta, Beslan, Elkhotovo, the Honored Architect of Crimea, her advisor Valery Nikolaevich Savlaev, together with specialists from the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. The appearance of the monument was also approved by members of the Architectural and Art Council, the work is personally supervised by the deputy head of the Yalta administration, Renard Kutkovsky, and the production and installation of the monument was undertaken by the Stone Flower company.
The monument is planned to be ceremoniously opened on April 26, 2026, on the fortieth anniversary of the Chernobyl accident.
