A very strong magnetic storm of a planetary scale, almost reaching the highest level of G5, is currently being registered by means of monitoring the geomagnetic situation in connection with the arrival of the first of three plasma clouds to the Earth, expected during today’s day against the backdrop of an extreme increase in flare activity in recent daysscientists report.
The current level of the event is G4.66 and falls short of the highest value by only 1/3 of a point, the Laboratory clarifies. However, the geomagnetic situation at the moment looks inexplicably different from the forecast, since only one of the three plasma emissions was expected to approach the Earth this night and cause a weak storm of level G1-G2.
Based on observations, scientists conclude that the main plasma ejection from the X5.1 flare has not yet arrived at the planet.
The main peak of the impact was and is still forecast in the middle of the day… At the moment, there remains hope that the parameters of only the frontal plasma structures are at the observed extreme level, and then the intensity of the impact on the Earth will decrease at least a little. There is essentially no forecast for the day– scientists state.
On Tuesday, scientists recorded the most strong flash from October 2024. According to their data, the radiation flux of the event was 3-5 times higher than all flares of this year. In terms of energy, it is estimated to be 10-20 times. Powerful geomagnetic shock due to the outbreak that occurred the day before, it was predicted for November 12. Against the background of these events, auroral zones are now forming above the Earth.
