A resident of Alupka will answer for participating in the fraudulent scheme «Your relative got into an accident»
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Yalta, a suspect in participation in the criminal scheme of remote fraud «Your relative got into an accident» was detained. A previously convicted 44-year-old resident of Alupka acted as a courier, to whom the victims transferred money for the “rescue” of their relatives, who became the “culprits of the accidents”. Four Crimeans, wanting to “get rid of” their relatives, gave the swindler more than 1 million 400 thousand rubles.
During the interrogation, the man told the police that, wanting to earn some money, he agreed to participate in a criminal scheme of the following content: having calculated the victim, the unknown person introduces himself as a law enforcement officer and informs the victim by phone that his close relative was in an accident. Further, the attacker proposes to settle the problem without resorting to procedural measures, for a certain amount, which must be transferred to the arriving courier.
The courier in this scheme receives a message from an unknown person in the messenger indicating the address where the agreed amount of money must be collected and the account number for their subsequent transfer. At the same time, the so-called “messenger” receives his own percentage of profit from each transaction.— the details were told in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
Thanks to professionally performed operational and investigative actions, law enforcement officers have collected an evidence base that makes it possible to establish the involvement of the suspect in the registered facts of remote fraud. Confessions were received from the attacker.
