A resident of Sevastopol discredited the Russian army online — she will spend 5.5 years in a colony

The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was recognized by the court as sufficient to convict the 38-year-old resident of Sevastopol. She was found guilty of publicly disseminating deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (clause “d”, part 2, article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The Sevastopol Interdistrict Investigation Department and the court established that in July 2024, the accused posted messages in the public channel of a popular messenger that contained deliberately false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The woman’s criminal activity was identified and suppressed by employees of the Center for Specialized Enforcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol. At the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the accused. She fully admitted her guilt in committing the crime. During the investigation of the criminal case, all necessary investigative actions were carried out, forensic examinations were carried out,” the department’s press service reported.

The court sentenced her to 5 years 6 months 15 days of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony with deprivation of the right for 2 years to engage in activities related to the public posting of appeals and other materials on the Internet.
