A resident of Simferopol was planning to “drown” his grandfather’s weapon in the pond, but he was drunk and… forgot the package in the store

The Simferopol police received a message from the administration of a grocery store, which reported the identification of a suspicious item, allegedly left by an unknown person on the sales floor.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers examined the contents of the package, in which they found a tonometer, a photo album and 2 items structurally similar to pistols, as well as 6 cartridges.
Operatives of Police Department No. 3 “Central” of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol immediately identified and detained the owner of the property. He turned out to be a 50-year-old local resident.
According to the detainee, it was established that he inherited a garage from his grandfather, in which in the summer of this year he decided to clean it, during which he discovered weapons and ammunition. In September of this year, he took a bag with found items in order to dispose of them in a nearby pond, but on the way the citizen went into a store, where, in a state of intoxication, he forgot the said bagsaid the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
According to the expert’s conclusion, one of the pistols is a rifled, single-barreled, short-barreled, self-loading, firearm — a Browning pistol, model 1906, 6.35 mm caliber, and the second is a rifled, single-barrel, short-barreled, self-loading firearm, a Melior pistol, model 1920, 7.65 mm caliber, ammunition for them is also combat and suitable for firing a shot.
The senior investigator of the investigation department of the police department No. 3 “Central” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition).

Citizens who voluntarily surrender illegally stored firearms, their main parts, ammunition, gas weapons, bladed weapons, including throwing weapons, are exempt from criminal liability in accordance with current legislation.
