According to security officials, the detainee, being a supporter of Ukrainian nationalist ideology, collected information about military installations of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the consequences of rocket attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and posted them on various pro-Ukrainian Internet resources.

In order to intimidate the population, the man planned to detonate an improvised explosive device in Sevastopol near the Memorial Sign in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy. The attacker studied the instructions for making an IED, purchased the necessary components and assembled a radio-controlled high-explosive fragmentation explosive device based on a mixed explosive.— reported the FSB.

During a search of the house, an explosive device was seized from the defendant. Criminal cases have been initiated under articles of illegal possession of explosive devices and preparation of a terrorist attack. The attacker was taken into custody and faces punishment up to life imprisonment.
