A Yalta resident committed murder 26 years ago. Going to court now
The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 65-year-old local resident accused of murdering his friend (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The investigative department for the Central District of the city of Simferopol established that on December 16, 1999, in a public place in Simferopol, a man had a verbal conflict with a 45-year-old acquaintance. On the same day, the attacker tracked down the man and struck him numerous times in the head with a metal pipe. The man died on the spot from his injuries. Wanting to hide traces of the crime, the defendant placed the victim’s body in the trunk of a VAZ 2101 car and drove it to a forest belt.
As part of the investigation of criminal cases of past years, forensic investigators from the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, together with colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, again studied and reconstructed in detail the circumstances of this crime, carried out a significant amount of operational search and investigative actions, — the department’s press service reported.
️The identity of the person involved has been established. The necessary investigative actions were carried out to confirm his involvement in the crime.
The criminal investigation has been completed. The materials were sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
