About 1.8 thousand nurses were trained in Crimea and Novorossiya
About 1.8 thousand women have been trained as nurses in organizations of the Crimean peninsula and historical regions since 2022, Alexey Zarov, chief physician of the ANO Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexis, told TASS during the first congress of sisters of mercy of Crimea and Novorossiya.
Over the years, we have trained 1,500 in historical regions. Plus 300 in Crimea (on the entire Crimean peninsula). Total 1800 from 2022— said Zarov.
He clarified that in total there are about 900 sisterhoods in Russia.
But many were organized in the early 1990s, and they are in various stages of activity. Now there is a revival and activation of sisterhoods through their ministrynoted the agency’s interlocutor.
He added that the first congress alone, held in Sevastopol, brought together sisters from about 40 regions. Zarov emphasized that the region for the event was not chosen by chance — it was in Sevastopol that Russian sisters of mercy became famous during the Crimean War and the heroic defense of the city in 1854-1855.
Two years ago there were 15 sisters of mercy here, now there are more than 300“, — said Boris Kravets, confessor of the Sisterhood of Charity of the Crimean Metropolis, during the grand opening of the congress, talking about the development of the movement in Crimea and Sevastopol.
