All ways to get to Crimea — a reminder for tourists
Arrive to Crimea by train
From October 2025 to April 2026, 10 year-round trains are assigned to Crimea: four daily from Moscow (including the branded Tavria Express train), two daily from St. Petersburg, one each from Adler, Minvod, Perm, Omsk/Tyumen.
This season, one train has been added to the year-round trains from St. Petersburg under the number 77/78, and train No. 25/26 on the Mineralnye Vody — Simferopol route will begin to operate after the route of train No. 327/328 Kislovodsk — Simferopol has been shortened.
In addition, during repair work on the railway infrastructure, the running order of trains No. 75/76 Omsk — Simferopol and No. 141/142 Perm — Simferopol has been changed.
You can find out the schedule of all trains that go to the peninsula, as well as buy train tickets. Here. In addition, we publish all the latest information about new routes and travel rules in our special section.
Arrive in Crimea by car
Traveling by car is still the most popular among tourists, because first of all it is freedom of movement, the opportunity to visit the most remote and little-known corners of the peninsula. Also, on the way to Crimea, road travelers can visit popular interregional tourist routes — “Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom”, “Nature of the Ancient Bosporus” and “Imperial Route”.
Pay attention!
The new federal highway A-289, connecting Krasnodar with the Crimean Bridge, is toll. This expressway, opened in December 2024, significantly reduces travel time to Crimea — about 2 hours instead of 5-6. It is equipped with a barrier-free “Free Flow” toll collection system: frames with sensors are installed that read information on the go and, based on it, form the amount to be paid. The new route, 118.6 km long, includes 4 lanes and 10 interchanges with exits to the nearest populated areas. You can familiarize yourself with tariffs, travel rules and payment methods Here.
Along the Crimean Bridge
From 00:00 November 3, 2025 until further notice introduced temporary restriction of the movement of hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles on the section of the A-290 Novorossiysk – Kerch highway from km 162+931 to km 145+400 in the direction of the transport crossing through the Kerch Strait from the Crimea.
At the entrance to the Crimean Bridge from the Krasnodar Territory, an inspection is carried out. Passenger cars and regular buses can pass through (passenger buses are given priority).
Drivers must prepare all the necessary documents in advance, familiarize themselves with the list of prohibited items and substances, pack their luggage so that it is convenient to unload and load it — this will significantly speed up the passage of control. Passenger cars with heavy, bulky luggage go through a scanner, which increases the inspection time, while passengers with light luggage go through a metal detector and go through the inspection much faster.
During inspection, drivers must be prepared to:
- open the car doors, hood, trunk, lower the windows;
- remove and open all bags, spare tire and floor mats;
- if necessary, bring bags through the scanner.
The bottom and wheel arches of the car are inspected without fail.
It is advisable to stop at a gas station before the bridge and fill the tank with gasoline. It is also recommended to buy everything you need for the trip before starting to move across the bridge at the gas station closest to it from the side of the Krasnodar Territory — “Lukoil”, M-25, 26th kilometer, 2, coordinates: 45.209777, 36.759277, from the side of the Republic of Crimea — at the ATAN gas station, coordinates: 45.31815, 36.33813.
In addition, it is recommended to monitor the traffic situation and possible congestion in Yandex.Navigator. After passing the inspection, the time to move across the bridge – taking into account the permitted speed of no more than 90 km/h – is about 20 minutes. Let us remind you that its length is 19 km.
In the event of a queue for inspection, for the convenience of drivers and passengers, rest areas are available on the approaches to the bridge both from the Krasnodar Territory and from the Crimea. Don’t forget to stock up on drinking water.
Current information about traffic on the Crimean Bridge is promptly published in the Telegram channel Here.

The first place tourists will be greeted when entering the peninsula from the Crimean Bridge is centuries-old Kerch. The hero city is connected to the Crimean capital by the four-lane federal highway “Tavrida”, travel along which, like the bridge, is free. There are gas stations equipped with all the necessary infrastructure. In 2024, the 8th section of the route was completed: this is the last section from the Yalta ring with a two-level interchange, which ends in Sevastopol. The total length of Tavrida is 250.75 km.
Through new territories
You can also get to the peninsula by land route – through new Russian regions. To cross the administrative border between Crimea and the Kherson region, three automobile checkpoints operate 24 hours a day: “Dzhankoy”, “Armensk” and “Perekop”.
“The road is safe. There are no problems with travel or access control. Today this is the easiest and most convenient way to the republic,” emphasizes Sergei Aksyonov.
The length of the route between the Dzhankoy checkpoints and the Rostov region is about 400 km. You can drive it in 5-6 hours, the road is two-lane, the condition is new high-quality asphalt. There are no traffic jams.
There is no curfew on the main route — from Taganrog to Chongar. However, it is valid in cities and villages located approximately 2 km from the main highway (if you suddenly decide to deviate from the route) — from 23:00 to 5:00.
Checkpoints operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (but see curfew information above). At all checkpoints a full inspection of vehicles is carried out, the average waiting time is from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
You must have original documents with you: passport, vehicle registration certificate, and if you have a child under 14 years of age with you, a birth certificate.
There are traffic police on duty along the route, who can fine you for violations of traffic rules. There are photo recording cameras. Lots of checkpoints. To avoid getting into an unpleasant situation, choose a safe speed in an unfamiliar area, follow the road signs and markings. You need to be especially careful in the evening, since the route is partially illuminated.
Gas stations are available along the entire route — an advantage There are actually large network ones (ATAN, thermal power plants), where you can refuel with gasoline, diesel and gas. Some of them operate around the clock, you can pay everywhere with MIR cards, and many sites have food stations. But it is advisable to have cash with you.
If you are driving an electric car, then from Rostov-on-Don to Simferopol, on the R-280 Novorossiya highway, about 22 stations are available. They are located in cities and towns, as well as along the main route of the road. For the convenience of drivers, we created map indicating the EZS.
Glonass GPS navigation works in different ways, but even without it you won’t get lost: in addition to a large number of information signs, along the route, we repeat, there are checkpoints where, if necessary, they will tell you everything. But to be more sure, download an offline map. By the way, you can stop along the entire route, according to traffic regulations. There are parking areas for cars.
Mobile communications work throughout the entire journey and for all Big Three operators — MTS, Megafon, Beeline — in technical roaming. Tariff details vary from person to person, please check with your operator.
And finally, regarding car insurance. If you are moving within new constituent entities of the Russian Federation, OSAGO or CASCO policies are not required. However, please note that when traveling throughout the rest of Russia, it is necessary to take out insurance.
Important! You cannot photograph military installations, columns, checkpoints, or critical infrastructure. It is better to turn off the DVR for the duration of the route, but if a tourist leaves it on, then it must be turned off or removed at the first request of the military or the FSB.
How many cars does it cost to enter and exit Chongar (Dzhankoy) – official informerwaiting in Armyansk, Veselo-Voznesenka, Perekop, Matveev Kurgan — official informer.

Arrive in Crimea by bus and combined options
Buses run regularly both from the cities closest to the peninsula — Novorossiysk, Krasnodar, Anapa, and from distant ones. For example, from Astrakhan, Pyatigorsk, Moscow. Let’s say the road to Simferopol from Moscow will take 23-30 hours (depending on the carrier), from Pyatigorsk — 18-20 hours, from Astrakhan — 20 hours.
You can also consider this option: fly to Sochi, Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, Mineralnye Vody or Stavropol, whose airports accept passengers, and from there transfer to a bus to Crimea.
By the way, at the Sochi airport bus station there is a bus stop, from where you can get to Simferopol, Sevastopol, Evpatoria, Kerch, Feodosia, and Yalta without a transfer. It is located on the first line of the terminal within walking distance from the exit from the arrivals area. You can view available flights and buy tickets Here. Travel time to Simferopol will be 16-17 hours.
Or you arrive by train to Krasnodar or Anapa, and then change to a bus to the Crimean resorts. Buses run less frequently from Anapa, but there are also rail buses going to Kerch. Travel time is about two hours. The current rail bus schedule is published on the website of the Southern Suburban Passenger Company Here.
You can buy bus tickets both on specialized online booking services and directly on the official websites of bus stations in the cities from which you are going. Before making a purchase, you can even read passenger reviews about a specific flight — about the condition of the bus, the professionalism of the driver, etc.
