Almost «fifty kopecks» lived, but did not acquire a mind. A resident of Kerch carelessly spent money from someone else's card
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A 69-year-old resident of the Leninsky district turned to the Kerch police. According to the victim, it was established that unknown persons stole money (about 16 thousand rubles) from her lost credit card.
As a result of the operational-search activities carried out by the police, the location and identity of the suspect in the theft were established. It turned out to be a 47-year-old local resident. The man told the police that he had found a bank card near the Central Market of Kerch. After discovering that the card had the function of a contactless payment method, he began to use it for personal purposes, paying for purchases in shops in the city.— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
According to part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“theft”) a criminal case was initiated. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to six years.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea warns:
- If you find someone else’s bank card, then you do not have the right to use it for payment! The funds on the account belong to its owner, and their illegal use entails criminal liability.
- If you find someone else’s bank card, you need to call the bank’s hotline (the number of the free hotline is indicated on the inside of the card), or contact the nearest bank branch.
