The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol completed the investigation of the criminal case against the orderly of the pathological department of the Sevastopol City Hospital No. 5 Center for Maternal and Child Health. He is accused of mediation in bribery on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigative department for the Leninsky district of the city of Sevastopol established that in the summer of 2023, the then-current head of the pathology department organized a corruption scheme to receive bribes from citizens for the timely preparation and release of the bodies of the deceased, as well as the provision of an accompanying range of funeral services. The official involved a subordinate employee as an intermediary. As a result of criminal actions, from September 2023 to May 2024, a nurse at the pathology department transferred bribes totaling over 1 million rubles from the residents of Sevastopol to his immediate supervisor.,” the department’s press service reported.

Corruption actions of employees of the pathology department were identified by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and the Economic Security and Internal Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol.

The investigation has collected all the necessary evidence. The investigation into the criminal case against the department orderly has been completed and has been sent to court for consideration on the merits. Materials regarding bribe givers and the main bribe recipient — the head of the department — are separated into separate proceedings.
