Rospotrebnadzor warns! It’s tick season. In this regard, epidemiologists of the department will hold public consultations on the prevention of tick-borne encephalitis and other dangerous diseases from May 15 to 26.
Ticks are distributed throughout Russia. When bitten by an infected tick, a person can become infected with various infections. The most dangerous of them are tick-borne encephalitis, borreliosis (Lyme disease), and tularemia. These diseases can lead to severe and irreversible consequences — paralysis, impaired brain function, damage to the joints and internal organs, and toxic shock.
As part of the “hot line”, experts will tell you how to protect yourself from a tick bite, what repellents you can use, how to treat a summer cottage, how to dress properly if you go to nature, what to do and where to turn if a tick bites, how do not miss the main signs of the disease. In addition, citizens will be able to learn about vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis.

On certain issues, calls are redirected to the territorial bodies and organizations of Rospotrebnadzor. In addition to informing the population, Rospotrebnadzor employees are conducting large-scale work to combat the tick population. In particular, areas of high risk of infection are treated with insecticides and acaricides several times a season.
Rospotrebnadzor is faced with the task of providing comprehensive multi-level protection for Russians, which is especially important against the backdrop of periodically emerging epidemiological threats. The answer to these challenges is the federal project «Sanitary shield of the country — safety for health (prevention, detection, response)».
An important part of the program was a comprehensive information and educational project of Rospotrebnadzor «Sanprosvet», aimed at disseminating modern sanitary and hygienic knowledge and skills and forming a new sanitary culture of the population. Information about the prevention of diseases transmitted by ticks, mosquitoes and other insects is one of the strategic themes of the project.
