In Sevastopol, police detained a suspect in motorcycle theft. It turned out that the hijacker called the motive for the crime committed a desire … to fulfill a childhood dream.
The police found out that a 26-year-old man left his motorcycle worth 66 thousand rubles in the courtyard of an apartment building for a long time and went to relatives in another city. An unattended two-wheeled vehicle attracted the attention of an 18-year-old local resident, who, after some time of observation, discovered that the motorcycle owner had not used it for a long time. The guy had a criminal intent and in the evening he started the motorcycle engine by shorting the ignition wires and stole it— told the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
Upon his return, the owner of the vehicle discovered it was missing and contacted the police. As a result of the measures taken, police officers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Gagarinsky district detained a suspect. The young man confessed to his deed and said that he had committed the hijacking, since he had dreamed of a motorcycle since childhood.
A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under Part 1 of Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Unlawful possession of a car or other vehicle without the purpose of theft”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years.
