February in the small hall of the Byzantine exposition, an exhibition will open, which will lift the veil of secrecy over the history of the library of Tauric Chersonesos and tell about ways of exploring the ancient city, covered in academic literature. The temporary exhibition «Collection of Scientific Thoughts» is dedicated to the anniversary of one of the oldest libraries in Sevastopol, which this year turns 23 years old!
The presented originals of printed publications and archival documents will tell visitors how more than a century ago the founder of the museum, Karl Kazimirovich Kostsyushko-Valyuzhinich, began compiling the first collection of books. It marked the beginning of the formation of an extensive repository, which has become a real laboratory for historians and archaeologists. At the new exhibition dedicated to the library’s 23 anniversary, connoisseurs and lovers of Chersonesos will see rare editions from different eras, illustrated documents, excavation reports and images of found artifacts. To immerse yourself in the history of the institution, usually hidden from the eyes of museum visitors, will help photographs of people who donated books to its fund. Works with dedicatory inscriptions, curious facts about the work of the library and about the employees who headed it in different periods will also arouse interest, — said the press service of the Tauric Chersonese Museum-Reserve.
Guests will also have a rare opportunity to get acquainted with materials that have not yet been published, which will very soon become the basis of monographs about Chersonesos and the results of modern archaeological excavations.
The exhibition «Collection of Scientific Thoughts» will run from February to 13 April 2023 of the year. We invite everyone to visit it to get acquainted with the history of the creation of the museum’s library, to see and hold in their hands publications that tell about the history of the study of Tauric Chersonesos.

Ticket price: for adults — 23 rubles, for students, older students 16 years and pensioners — 50 rubles.
