Crimea is on high alert due to the Balkan cyclone
At a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations and Fire Safety of the Republic of Crimea, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Yuri Gotsanyuk announced the introduction of a high alert regime on the peninsula in connection with the approaching Balkan cyclone.
According to forecasters, heavy rainfall, strong winds and the risk of flooding of low-lying areas are expected in Crimea over the next two days. All specialized services must work in enhanced mode, — Yuri Gotsanyuk emphasized.
He also noted that, according to weather forecasters, from January 10 to 11, rain and snow, sleet, wind speed up to 30 m/s and rising water levels in rivers are expected on the peninsula.
During the meeting of the commission, instructions were given to relevant departments. In particular, resource supply organizations are required to ensure round-the-clock operation and the readiness of emergency recovery teams.
The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Crimea, together with the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, was instructed to prepare places for the placement of mobile heating and nutrition points along the Tavrida federal highway and highways of republican significance.
In addition, heads of executive authorities and municipalities are recommended to take a set of preventive measures to minimize the risks of emergency situations.
