Crimea Police warns citizens about distance scammers

Schemes used by cyber abusions according to the results of the past week:

• false calls/calls in messengers (telegrams, VOTSAP): criminals are submitted by communication operators, bank employees, law enforcement agencies or even relatives of the victim, trying to find out personal data or force to transfer money;

• Fake online stores: Clones of famous brands are created, where buyers pay for goods, but never receive them;

• lure of money through social networks: attackers create fake accounts of acquaintances of users, asking for help in the form of money transfers;

• Investments in the company’s shares: scammers offer potential investors to invest money in the shares of some promising company, claiming that soon the value of shares will increase sharply. Typically, such investments promise high income with minimal risks;

• Installation of third -party applications and crossing the links.

Through calls

A resident of one of the villages of Simferopol district became a victim of telephone scammers. At first, intruders, introducing themselves as employees Krymgaz communal servicethey called her and, under the pretext of replacing the counter, was asked to inform the code from SMS. Without suspecting anything, the woman called the numbers, after which the call broke off. Then, from different numbers, allegedly employees of Rosfinmonitoring and law enforcement agencies began to call her. They told the applicant that she had previously talked with scammers and now it is necessary to collect all her savings and transfer to the courier who will put them on a “safe score”. Gathering about 1.5 million rubles, She handed them to an unknown woman.

The victims of fraud according to the scheme “Your relative fell into an accident” were 11 elderly people who gave fraudsters more 5 million rubles.

In one of the cases, a resident of Kerch was called an unknown person who introduced himself as a police officer. The fraudster told my grandmother that a serious accident had occurred because of her daughter and now she needs legal assistance. Wanting to help her daughter, the woman collected all her savings and handed over to the courier. She recognized the truth only when she contacted her daughter — it turned out that there was no accident.

A resident of Yalta in Telegram received a tempting offer from a person who introduced himself as a manager of a company specializing in the supply of premium cars from the border. For the Kia Rio car, the man, having trusted the «manager», transferred to the specified account 800 thousand rubles. After that, the connection with the seller suddenly broke off, and the applicant realized that he was a victim of deception.

A 45-year-old man from the Saksky district turned to the police. He said that in the Telegram messenger, he met a person who offered advertising services in mobile applications. After paying more than 5 thousand rubles, the applicant discovered that the promised advertising was never placed, and the interlocutor stopped in touch.

A resident of the Bakhchisarai district posted on one of the sites an announcement on the sale of a baby stroller. Soon, an allegedly interested buyer contacted her, who sent her a link leading to a safe transaction service. There, the woman was supposed to indicate the data of her bank card to receive payment. Following the instructions, the applicant soon discovered that she was deducted from her account 28 thousand rubles.
