Crimean gardeners can receive up to 50% insurance for frost-damaged flowers
Crimean gardeners can receive up to 50 percent of insurance compensation in the event that return frosts cause damage to flowering gardens. About this on air radio «Sputnik in Crimea» said Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Nikolai Tyutyunik.
The main instrument of financial protection (in case of damage from return frosts — ed.) is insurance. At the moment, we are ready to provide 50% compensation for the insurance premium from the budget of the Republic of Crimea, — said the deputy minister, clarifying that this is necessary to reduce the financial burden on farmers.
In addition, if the orchards have not begun to bear fruit, the regional Ministry of Agriculture will compensate part of the cost of caring for young plantings. The budget provides almost 40 million rubles for these purposes. Compensation for part of the cost of the insurance payment is more than 20 million rubles, Tyutyunik specified.
According to the deputy minister, the horticulture industry is one of the most dynamically developing in the region.
At the beginning of 2014, we had 7 thousand hectares of gardens in our republic, and today there are almost 17 thousand hectares. This year we will allocate more than 300 million rubles for development and planting new gardens. And we expect that by the end of the year about 400 new young perennial plantings will appearhe said.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Nikolai Tyutyunik said that in Crimea early stone fruits bloom crops: plum, cherry plum and almond. Freezing temperatures can harm the future harvest if they last two to three hours and reach two degrees below zero.
Republican Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia with reference to weather forecasters warned of three-day frosts in the steppe and foothill regions of Crimea.
Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Denis Kratyuk said that the January frosts and snowfalls did not cause damage to fruit and agricultural crops in Crimea, so in the republic harvest is not expected to decline. The only concern for farmers and gardeners now is possible spring frosts.
