During the week, 39 Crimeans suffered from the actions of remote scammers. We gave away more than 42 million rubles

In the Simferopol region, a 58-year-old woman became a victim of scammers, having transferred an impressive amount of 10 million 735 thousand rubles to their accounts. According to the victim, she received a series of calls from unknown persons. The attackers presented themselves as employees of the military registration and enlistment office, law enforcement agencies and a bank. Using the common “safe account” scheme, they convinced the woman that her savings were under threat and urgently needed to be “saved.” To add credibility, the scammers organized the transfer of money through a courier. As a result, the gullible citizen lost all her savings.

In Yevpatoria, a 64-year-old woman lost about 2.5 million rubles after a series of calls from criminals. According to the victim, the first call came from an unknown person who introduced himself as an employee of a company that replaces intercoms. The man convinced her to provide the code from an SMS, which was the beginning of a fraudulent scheme. After this, the woman began to receive calls from other people introducing themselves as employees of various services. They claimed that banned organizations were being financed from her bank account, and she faced criminal liability. To avoid “problems,” the pensioner was offered to transfer money to “safe” accounts.

Under pressure and fear of possible punishment, the woman followed the scammers’ instructions and transferred a significant amount. Only after some time did she realize that she had become a victim of deception and contacted the police.

Through INTERNET SITES, SOCIAL NETWORKS and MESSENGERS

Over the past week, four residents of Yalta — men and women aged 33 to 67 years — became victims of remote scammers. The total amount of damage exceeded 60 thousand rubles. The attackers acted through popular instant messengers. Posing as suppliers of seafood, they offered products at “wholesale prices”, significantly lower than market prices. For many buyers, this looked like a great opportunity to save money. The victims transferred money for “orders,” but after payment the connection with the “sellers” was interrupted. People never received either the product or a refund.

In Feodosia, a 46-year-old woman became a victim of scammers while trying to increase her savings through investments. According to the victim, an unknown person contacted her in one of the messengers and offered to make money on the stock exchange by investing in precious metals. To do this, he insisted that it was necessary to install a special application, which would supposedly provide easy and quick profits. Trusting the promises, the woman transferred 1 million rubles to the specified account. However, soon the connection with the so-called “curator” was interrupted, and access to the invested funds was impossible. Realizing that she had become a victim of deception, the Feodosia woman contacted the police.

The Yalta police received a statement from a 73-year-old resident of Alupka about fraud. The pensioner said that she had placed an offer for the sale of a wicker basket on a free classifieds website. Soon an unknown person contacted her through one of the popular instant messengers, expressing a desire to purchase the product. The fake buyer provided the woman with a link, claiming that she needed to enter her bank card details through it to make the payment. Trusting these words, the applicant entered her personal data. After that, 15 thousand rubles were debited from her account.

Through INSTALLING THIRD-PARTY APPLICATIONS and FOLLOWING LINKS

In Yalta, a 59-year-old local resident became a victim of Internet scammers. She said that in one of the messengers she came across a chat where they offered furniture to order. There she saw an advertisement for the sale of a set of garden furniture worth 28,130 rubles. After corresponding with the “seller,” the woman was provided with a link to pay for the goods. After following it, she transferred the money. However, upon returning to the chat, she discovered that her account was blocked.

In one of the popular instant messengers, a 48-year-old resident of the Simferopol region received a message from an unknown sender. The text contained a link allegedly leading to a photograph of the applicant himself. Under the pretext of viewing the image, the man clicked on the specified link. After that, he discovered that 25 thousand rubles had been written off from his bank account to an unknown account.

How to protect yourself from such threats?

To avoid such troubles, it is important to follow a few simple rules:

1. Never share your personal information with strangers, especially card numbers, verification codes and passwords.

2. Check the reliability of online resources before making online purchases.

3. Be careful with suspicious emails and messages containing links or downloads.

4. Don’t believe in “safe accounts” and “declaration of funds” — THIS IS A SCAM!

5. Do not panic — real law enforcement officers and government agencies do not require the transfer and transfer of funds.

If you have become a victim of scammers, immediately report it to the police using the single number 102 or submit a written statement to any nearest police station.
