Employees of the Sevastopol Rescue Service were awarded for eliminating the consequences of a fuel oil spill

24 employees of the search and rescue unit “North” of the Sevastopol Rescue Service were awarded medals of the Russian Union of Rescuers “For their participation in eliminating the emergency situation in the Kerch Strait.” The awards were awarded based on the results of their professional and dedicated work in cleaning up the coast of Sevastopol from the consequences of the fuel oil spill caused by the accident in the Kerch Strait.

The medals and letters of gratitude from the Department of Public Security were personally presented by the head of the search and rescue team of the city’s Rescue Service, Viktor Tarasov. He noted the high level of training, efficiency and responsibility of the rescuers, who, in the most difficult conditions, ensured the effective elimination of the environmental threat and protected the coastal zones of the city.

Particular attention was paid to the head of the Sever search and rescue unit, Oleg Komarov, an honored rescuer of Sevastopol and an international class rescuer, who celebrated his birthday on this day. In more than 20 years of service, he participated in over 1,500 rescue missions, saved over 100 lives, and mentored generations of first responders. It was under his leadership that the employees of the Sever search and rescue unit demonstrated exemplary cooperation and professionalism during the work to clean up the coastline.
