Evpatoria prosecutor's office sent to court a criminal case on fraud in the amount of 4 million rubles

The prosecutor’s office of Evpatoria approved the indictment in a criminal case against a 29-year-old resident of the Saki region. He is charged under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“fraud committed on a large scale by an organized group”).
According to investigators, from March 1 to March 14, 2023, the accused acted as a courier in an organized group of telephone scammers who called elderly residents of the cities of Evpatoria and Saki and reported that their relatives or acquaintances were responsible for traffic accidents. Members of the group convinced the victims that they should transfer money to compensate for the harm caused to the victims of the accident. These funds in the amount of 100 thousand to 900 thousand rubles were taken from them by a courier. In total, in this way, the attackers lured 4 million rubles from 10 victims— told the details in the prosecutor’s office.
The criminal case was sent to the Evpatoria City Court for consideration on the merits. In order to compensate the victims of the damage caused, civil claims have been filed.
