Experts: Banks often forgive borrowers with fines for delay
Krympress reports:
Banks are increasingly canceling fines for delay in loans, they told the Izvestia newspaper in a united credit bureau. In the first half of the year, the share of such cases increased to 0.6–1.25%. Previously, it did not exceed 0.1%. At the same time, banks do not accrue interest in 36% of cases. A year ago, the share of such cases was 20%.
For banks, the cancellation of fines accrued for delay is a tool to achieve agreements with the debtor, the director of the client service and the recovery of the Dom.rf bank Kirill Malinovsky explained. The press service of the National Association of Professional Collection Agencies note that the market proceeds to environmentally friendly debts with an individual approach to customers. People agree on a lender to avoid bankruptcy. As a result, the borrower may return to the payment schedule, and the bank will receive regular payments.
According to Evgeny Lazarev from the Popular Front “For the Rights of Borrows”, banks often do not charge fines where most of the main debt is repaid. It is not profitable for the bank to sell or collect such a debt. A more rational decision is to meet the client. The expert emphasized that banks are not required to make concessions to borrowers, it is not worth counting on this.
Forgiveness of non -storage and fines helps to reduce the volume of delays arising in the early term, explained the head of the development of the consumer lending of Ingo Bank Dmitry Dolzhenko. Often, the cost of court costs and the work of collectors exceeds the amount of fines, said Oleg Ablev, head of the analytical department of the RIKO-TRAST investment company.
The loyalty of banks can be associated with a sharp increase in the number of delays and the desire to avoid bankruptcy. According to the Central Bank, the share of a mortgage with a delay in payment for more than 90 days after the results of the first half of the year reached 1.1%, in car loans the share of delays — 4%. People began to apply for loan restructuring and the provision of holidays more often. The number of mortgage holidays increased by 30%, to 6.5 thousand. The number of appeals for loan restructuring increased by 87%, to 1.5 million.
At the same time, the percentage of failures in restructuring is quite large — about 80%. Oleg Ablev emphasized that banks carefully evaluate the borrowers and meet only those who have real chances of resuming payments.
Banks are not charitable organizations, the expert noted. There is a large layer of borrowers who will not help the restructuring of the loan. At the same time, Abelev is sure that the liberalization of banks policy in terms of loan restructuring will continue.
