Feodosia operatives detained couriers of telephone swindlers

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Feodosia, in cooperation with colleagues from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea, detained a 27-year-old local resident and a 21-year-old resident of Sevastopol on suspicion of a series of frauds committed against elderly citizens. Three local residents of advanced age suffered from their actions, all of them have already filed complaints with the police. The amount of damage caused to the victims amounted to more than 500 thousand rubles.

In all cases, an unknown person called the victims on the phones, introduced himself as a law enforcement officer and reported: relatives committed a traffic accident in which people were injured. Further, the victims were offered to transfer funds through a courier in order not to bring relatives to criminal responsibility for the accident. The interlocutor «kept on the wire» pensioners, until the moment when a courier came to their house, to whom the victims transferred all their savings. The deception was revealed almost immediately, as soon as women had the opportunity to call relatives.— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

In hot pursuit, the operatives detained young people who, for a fee, acted as couriers.

According to the detainees, they found such earnings through the messenger. They received information about the addresses of the victims from whom it was necessary to take cash from the curators, also through instant messengers. The salary was received on the spot from the same money, and the rest of the stolen funds were sent to the bank accounts indicated by the curators.
