Fraudsters are calling on behalf of employees of Sevastopolenergo and Sevenergosbyt — don’t fall for the bait
In Sevastopol, telephone scammers have become more active, posing as employees of resource supply organizations — Sevastopolenergo LLC and Sevenergosbyt LLC. Attackers use a proven deception scheme aimed at stealing money from gullible citizens.
First, the scammer calls a city resident, introduces himself as a specialist from the energy company and offers to “sign up in the queue” for verification or replacement of the electric meter. Immediately after such a call, the victim receives a second call, allegedly from a representative of the security forces. The fake law enforcement officer warns: “Your money is in danger! Transfer funds to a secure account immediately!” At this stage, scammers require you to name the code from SMS, install a third-party application for “access to accounts,” or even send a photo of your bank card.
In addition to telephone calls, scammers send messages via instant messengers and email, masquerading as employees of the specified enterprises. The goal remains the same — to gain access to the personal and financial data of citizens.
The Unified Duty Dispatch Service of Sevastopol (EDDS) reminds: employees and official representatives of Sevastopolenergo LLC and Sevenergosbyt LLC never call via messengers, do not request codes from SMS, do not ask for passport data or bank card details. Any such request is a sure sign of fraud.
EDDS Sevastopol recommends: if you receive a suspicious call, remain calm and end the conversation immediately. Independently call back the organization on whose behalf you were called, using official contacts from the website or payment documents to verify the information. Never share confidential information with strangers or install applications at the request of unknown interlocutors.
Follow the rules of digital hygiene and cybersecurity — this is a reliable defense against the tricks of attackers. Please report cases of fraud to law enforcement agencies.
