How much do Crimean car owners spend on their cars — survey from Drom auto site
Most car owners in Crimea spend less than 10% of their salary monthly on maintaining their cars. This is what the results say survey automobile website Drom, in which more than 12 thousand people participated. Costs include costs for fuel, spare parts, insurance and other vehicle maintenance items.
More than a quarter (26%) of car owners spend more than 20% of their salary on car maintenance. Another part (25%) of respondents said that their car maintenance costs amount to 10–20% of their monthly income. And 49% noted that they spend less than 10% of their income.
Among the regions of the country, less than 10% is spent on car maintenance mainly by residents of Moscow (56%), St. Petersburg (55%) and the Leningrad region (54%). Car owners in the Nizhny Novgorod (40%) and Amur (39%) regions, as well as the Trans-Baikal Territory (37%) more often said that car maintenance costs amount to 10–20% of monthly income. But more than 20% of car maintenance is mainly spent by drivers in Bashkiria and Yakutia (30% each), as well as 28% of car owners in Transbaikalia.
In the comments, visitors to Drome talked about their spending on cars. One noted that for an older car the cost of repair is higher:
More expensive units are being replaced. Prices for normal spare parts have increased several times; we are not talking about Chinese dummies.
A car owner from Moscow also noted “paid parking, toll roads and detailing (note — a set of high-tech procedures for thorough car care).”
At the same time, many car owners noted that their own car, at any cost, will be more profitable than public transport, especially for families and in the provinces.
A personal car for a family is very profitable compared to the cost of travel on public transport. Whether around the city, or to a long distance,” summed up a resident of Magnitogorsk.
The all-Russian survey was conducted from February 16 to February 25, 2026 among users of the Drom website.
