How transport will work in Crimea during the New Year holidays
Take it, Snow Maiden!
Tinsel, festive mood and the Snow Maiden at the wheel. No, this is not the residence of Father Frost. This is a smart Simferopol bus, which on December 31 and January 1 will operate for Crimeans and guests of the capital of the republic.
The role of the granddaughter of the winter wizard is the driver Daria Ovodenko. The girl is on New Year’s duty for the second year in a row. I bought the Snow Maiden costume myself. Admittedly, this makes the atmosphere truly festive.
Oh, the Snow Maiden is coming! Many children take pictures. People really like it— says Daria Ovodenko, driver of bus route No. 99 “Zalesye — Molodezhnoe” of the Krymtrolleybus enterprise in Simferopol.
In addition, if you are lucky, the driver Snegurochka shares a secret, then Santa Claus himself will pass a few stops with passengers. But this information is still secret.
On schedule
However, unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet 2026 on a bus. Public transport will start running only from five to seven in the morning in all cities of the peninsula. But in order for the car to reach the line on schedule, the schedule has to be shifted… the family schedule.
We celebrate the New Year with our family a little in advance. We gather around 10-11 pm. We sit at the table for a while and go to bed. Get up early — you have to be on the route at five o’clock, which means you have to get up at three in the morning— said the interlocutor.
But work is not a burden, but a joy. It’s a holiday – everyone is in a hurry to go home or visit, Daria shares. Therefore, it is interesting to understand and help people in your own way.
On December 31, of course, all people are cheerful and congratulate you on the upcoming New Year. Everyone is in a good mood, everyone is moving around, trying to get home as quickly as possible. And on January 1st there are practically no peopleshe said.
It’s good to work on holidays
Work on weekdays means a colossal flow of cars. And on weekends and holidays the traffic flow decreases. There is practically no interference on the road, passengers are calm because they know that even if you check the bus schedule according to the bus schedule, you will definitely not be late for anything, the driver will not let you down.
We, as city transport drivers, cannot get enough of the fact that the streets and roads are empty, we are driving on schedule — minute by minute. We have fun. And there is also double pay,” says Sergei Kozlenko, a Simferopol bus driver at the Krymtrolleybus enterprise. His route No. 14 “Kamenka 9th stop – Kuibyshev Square (Pobedy Avenue).”
What surprises passengers most, the driver says, is that public transport works. «Wow! We don’t need to call a taxi!” – people are happy when they get on the bus. Well, the smiles of the Crimeans themselves, who go to the holiday in a good mood, are a separate reward.
Everyone is in a good cheerful mood right away. No matter who goes where. This cannot be compared with a weekday, when everyone is busy with their own affairs. On a holiday — New Year, Christmas — everyone seems to be on the same wavelength, on a wave of joy— the interlocutor shares his impressions.
Who creates the holiday atmosphere?
The atmosphere in the cabin, Sergei believes, depends entirely on the driver. For example, a Crimean resident hangs New Year’s toys, garlands and pine branches on his bus. Such attention does not leave even the saddest passengers indifferent.
As a rule, we are already assigned to routes. And passengers, getting on or off the bus, will definitely congratulate you on the holiday. All people understand that we came to work for them, they appreciate it. And this makes me very happy.
And, of course, gifts. There are candies and other sweets on the driver’s front panel. Both adults and children are treated to a treat.
I tell parents — take it and treat your children and yourself. Even adults ask — can we do it too? There is no limit to happiness— Sergei recalls with a smile.
Festive behind the scenes
But behind such “celebratory” work there is a whole team of professionals. To bring a bus or trolleybus onto the line, it needs to be prepared, the driver needs to undergo a medical examination, and much more.
We drivers are like soloists. And behind the scenes, our work is ensured by a whole team of professionals. These are mechanics, mechanics, dispatchers, doctors. This is a large group of people who also go out to work on holidays — the interlocutor emphasized.
