In Sevastopol, more than 4.2 thousand people work in the agricultural sector, of which more than 2 thousand are employed in food production, over 2.2 thousand in agriculture. More than 150 more specialists represent the state veterinary service of Sevastopol: they ensure the epizootic well-being of the region, prevent the emergence of dangerous infectious diseases, take care of animal health every day and confirm the safety of products at 10 agri-food markets and 14 fairs.
Farms also make a significant contribution to strengthening food security. There are more than 100 peasant farms (peasant farms) engaged in dairy and beef cattle breeding, crop production, viticulture and other areas in the region.
Personnel in the agro-industrial complex and agriculture are the basis for the stable operation of food and agricultural enterprises. Important work is being done to build the industry’s human resources potential. Thus, in 2025, two new agrotechnological classes were opened on the basis of general education institutions,” said Natalia Skoryukova, director of the department of agriculture and consumer market.
In total, today there are four such directions in Sevastopol schools: two at school No. 59 in Ternovka, one at school No. 17 in Sugar Head and one at Balaklava school No. 30.
In addition, at school No. 23, students in grades 9-11 enjoy the course “Management in Viticulture,” implemented under an agreement with Sevastopol State University.
Almost 70 schoolchildren are already studying natural science subjects, agricultural technologies and other specialized disciplines in depth, gaining the first professional skills of future farmers.
The agricultural sector is becoming increasingly attractive to young people and experienced professionals. For 10 months of 2025, the average monthly salary of industry workers was 84,700 rubles in agriculture, fishing and fish farming, and more than 56,000 rubles in food production.
Let us remind you that since 2025, a financial support program for young specialists in the agro-industrial complex has been implemented in Sevastopol. University graduates can receive 250 thousand rubles, college graduates — 200 thousand rubles. Last year, four specialists received such support. In 2026, we increased the amount of funding and allocated 2.5 million rubles for these purposes; last year it amounted to 1 million rubles.
