Illegal activity in the sale of bank cards was stopped in the Simferopol region
In the Simferopol region, criminal investigation officers identified an illegal scheme that involved minors. During operational search activities at the place of residence of an 18-year-old local resident, bank cards issued in the name of teenagers were discovered.
During the investigation, it was established that at the beginning of March last year, a message was received on the suspect’s mobile phone from an acquaintance with an offer to earn extra money. Having responded positively, they agreed to meet in Simferopol to discuss details. During a meeting with the alleged “employer,” the latter outlined a scheme for generating income, which consisted of finding minor acquaintances and involving them in issuing debit bank cards, which were supposedly intended to withdraw funds from online casinos.
For each issued card, the 18-year-old suspect received up to 30 thousand rubles from the “employer”. Minors were paid amounts from 5 to 12 thousand rubles— the details of the case were announced in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
It was also established that the young man was involved in more than thirty episodes of illegal activities in the field of banking operations. The teenagers were not aware that their bank cards were used to carry out illegal financial transactions.
The investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Simferopol region initiated criminal cases under Part 5 of Art. 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal circulation of means of payment”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to six years in prison. A preventive measure was chosen against the detainee — a written undertaking not to leave the place.
Police continue efforts to identify other persons involved in the criminal scheme.
