Illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs was stopped in Crimea
Employees of the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea, together with colleagues from the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Feodosia, identified the fact of illegal cultivation of hemp.
During operational search activities on the territory of the household of a 33-year-old resident of Feodosia, 53 plants were discovered and seized in an outbuilding. The seized items were sent for research. According to the expert’s conclusion, these plants are hemp containing narcotic drugs.
It was established that a local resident grew them for the purpose of illegal use for personal consumption. The man equipped the room with phytolamps, used fertilizers and systematically looked after the plants, creating favorable conditions for their growth— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
In the investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Feodosia, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs). The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to two years in prison.
Currently, the suspect has been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place.
