In Alushta, a man tried to bribe a traffic police inspector — now he will pay a fine 4 times larger than he offered

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On April 7, while driving a car, a resident of Alushta was moving along the “Border with the Kherson Region-Simferopol-Alushta-Yalta” highway. While passing the stationary post of the road patrol service «Angarsky Pereval», I was stopped by a traffic police inspector to check my documents. During the verification of documents, it was established that he does not have category “B”, and therefore he does not have the right to drive a vehicle; the latter’s actions show signs of an administrative offense under Art. 12.7. Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, in connection with which, the traffic police inspector explained that an administrative protocol would be drawn up against him for committing an offense.

A little later, while in the interior of a company car, wanting to avoid administrative liability, he offered a bribe to the traffic police inspector. Having received the latter’s refusal, not wanting to give up his plan, he deliberately handed over a purse containing money in the amount of 20,000 rubles, in cash, as a bribe for committing obviously illegal actions in the form of failure to bring to administrative responsibility.

The traffic police inspector refused to accept a bribe, reported the incident to the duty station of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs for the city of Alushta, and called an investigative team.

The defendant’s arguments that traffic police officers provoked him to give a bribe were not confirmed in court. In addition, the defendant did not deny that he initially planned to offer the employees a monetary reward, however, he did not understand in what amount. He admitted his guilt in full, explained that he realized what he had done and repented.

His guilt of attempted bribery was fully confirmed by the totality of evidence examined at the trial.

The court found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and sentenced him to a fine in the amount of 80,000 (eighty thousand) rubles.

The fine was paid by the convicted person on the same day.
