In Alushta, businessmen sold «shmurdyak» under the guise of «homemade» Crimean wine

In Alushta, two local residents were convicted for selling about 700 liters of low-quality alcohol-containing products. Based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office, they were found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph «a» part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (storage for the purpose of sale, as well as the sale of products that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement).
The court found that in January 2020, the defendants organized activities for the sale of alcohol-containing products, which one of the men sold on the territory of Simferopol and Alushta. During the period of their criminal activity, the men sold more than 675 liters of homemade alcohol-containing liquid, more than 600 liters were found during searchesthe prosecutor’s office said.
The Alushta City Court, agreeing with the position of the public prosecutor, based on the role of each in the commission of the crime, sentenced one of the defendants to a suspended sentence of 2 years with a probationary period for the same period, the second — a fine of 250 thousand rubles.
The verdict was appealed by the convicts, but the court found the arguments of the appeals untenable.
