In the Bakhchisaray district, the court passed a verdict in a criminal case against a 28-year-old local resident. Based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office, he was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph «a» part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation by a person driving a car of the rules of the road, negligently resulting in the death of a person, if committed by a person in a state of intoxication).

The court established that in June last year, at night, the driver, being in a state of intoxication, was moving along the Peschanoe-Pochtovoe highway within the boundaries of the settlement with excess speed, and his passenger in the front seat was driving, leaning out from the window. Losing control, the driver allowed the car to roll over, the passenger died from injuries sustained as a result of the accident , the prosecutor’s office said.

The Bakhchisaray District Court, on the basis of the position of the public prosecutor, taking into account the fact that the convicted person had previously been prosecuted under Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, sentenced him to 5 years in prison to be served in a correctional colony-settlement. The convict is deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 3 years. The verdict has not entered into force.
