In Crimea, a one-time cash payment has been established for citizens affected by radiation exposure. It is timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and the Day of Participants in Liquidation of the Consequences of Radiation Accidents and Disasters. The corresponding decree was published on the official portal of the Crimean government.
The decree specifies that the payment will be received by liquidators registered at their place of residence in Crimea. In addition, monetary allowances are provided to those evacuated from the exclusion zone or resettled, including those who left voluntarily, from the resettlement zone in 1986 and in subsequent years. It is also available to members of families who have lost their breadwinner from among citizens who died as a result of the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, who died due to radiation sickness and other diseases. A one-time cash payment is a measure of social support and is provided once. It is provided in the amount of 5 to 10 thousand rubles, the document specifies.
The accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which occurred on April 26, 1986, is considered the largest man-made disaster of the 20th century in terms of the scale of damage and consequences. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant is located 15 kilometers from the city of Chernobyl, Kyiv region.
