In Crimea, the police revealed a «scheme» for financing an extremist organization

In Crimea, employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea, together with colleagues from the GUEBiPK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the VOG of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for ensuring ES&P, the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol revealed the fact of the illegal activities of one of the organizers of a banned religious organization, previously detained in Simferopol region.
In March of this year, law enforcement officers established the fact of financing extremist activities. According to operational data, despite the fact that the activity of a religious organization on the territory of the Russian Federation is prohibited, the defendant collected funds as donations from citizens who are part of a religious assembly in order to support the activities of the extremist organization «Administrative Center» Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia» (The organization is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia — ed.) and meeting the needs of its structural subdivision in the Simferopol region— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
The materials collected by the operatives were transferred to the investigating authorities for a procedural decision.
Recall that the illegal activities of a structural unit of an extremist organization banned in Russia, which had been operating on the peninsula since 2017, were stopped in 2022 as a result of an interdepartmental special operation.
