In Crimea, the results of the work on neutralizing fuel oil waste after the emergency in the Kerch Strait are being summed up
More than 800 tons of waste were neutralized biologically using modern technologies — through bioremediation. Oil-oxidizing microorganisms were introduced into the waste, which ensured the decomposition of oil hydrocarbons and petroleum products. According to the protocols of accredited laboratories, microbiological neutralization was carried out successfully,” noted the Head of Crimea.
At the same time, waste that was not amenable to biological recycling was sent for thermal neutralization to a specialized site in the Belogorsk region. This work has also been completed in full.
Sergei Aksyonov emphasized that the entire process took place under the control of supervisory authorities.
REFERENCE. The tankers Volgoneft 212 and Volgoneft 239 crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to difficult weather conditions. The emergency situation caused by the oil spill was given federal status on December 26. According to the latest data from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, about 260 kilometers of coastline have been cleared since the start of work in the Republic of Crimea.
