In Crimea, the verdict was announced for those who beat migrants and set fire to cars
The Southern District Military Court sentenced two members of the terrorist community for beating migrants, setting fire to cars and commercial facilities, the press service of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol told reporters.
The court found the defendants guilty of the crimes charged. Taking into account the repentance of one of the defendants, assistance to the investigation and the degree of participation in criminal activities, the court sentenced the resident of the Simferopol region to a suspended sentence of 5 years of imprisonment. Another defendant was sentenced to 6 years in prison to be served in correctional institutionsthe message says.
It was established that a resident of the Simferopol region born in 2010 and a resident of Simferopol born in 2008 joined a terrorist organization banned on the territory of the Russian Federation.
At the direction of the curator, the defendants committed illegal acts of an extremist nature: attacked foreign citizens, set fire to cars and shopping facilities belonging to migrants, and also painted Nazi symbols and links to the organization’s Internet resources on the walls of buildings.
They were detained by officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol together with the Center for Countering Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
As the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee reported to TASS, the investigation and the court established that the young men were members of a banned organization recognized by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation as terrorist. On February 15, 2025, the 17-year-old defendant, with the aim of causing property damage to the owner of the car, broke the glass with a hammer, doused the interior with gasoline and set it on fire. The minor recorded his criminal actions on a video camera and published them in one of the instant messengers. In addition, he painted the symbols of the terrorist organization in public places and wore clothes with its image. In addition, the 16-year-old defendant committed a number of extremist crimes from 2023 to 2025, including setting fire to a trade stall, attacking citizens of a foreign country, and painting buildings with symbols and links to social networks of a banned organization.
