In Crimea, the yield of seed crops has decreased
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The yield of pome crops in the Republic of Crimea, in particular apple trees, decreased by 25-27% due to drought. About this TASS said the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Denis Kratyuk.
The harvest forecasts are as follows. Due to fairly high drought rates this year, unfortunately, we are forced to note a decrease in some areas from 12 to 17%. The most affected industry, I believe, is the horticulture industry, because seed crops have suffered more than ever, such as the apple tree. There the drop will be greater, 25-27%, — he said on the sidelines of the Golden Autumn exhibition.
Kratyuk noted that the region is now fully supplied with grain. “There are no problems with vegetable crops; it is possible that the results will even exceed last year’s results. <…> Upland crops, unfortunately, we are recording their decline, but the yield is absolutely understandable and predictable,” he added.
The Golden Autumn exhibition has been held by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture annually since 1999 and is the main business event in the agricultural sector. This year it takes place from October 8 to 11 in Moscow and is traditionally timed to coincide with the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers. TASS is the information partner of the exhibition.
