In Crimea they are preparing to celebrate the 150th anniversary of St. Luke of Crimea
The meeting participants discussed issues related to the organization of events dedicated to the anniversary of the Crimean saint, which will be celebrated in 2027.
Thus, among the indicated plans: reconstruction of the territory and objects of the missile defense «Holy Trinity Convent» of the city of Simferopol of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, in the cathedral of which the relics of the saint rest; expansion or relocation to another building of the St. Luke Museum; organization of new infrastructure for pilgrims. In addition, it is proposed to explore options for placing the exhibition “Russia — My History” — a multimedia historical park in which the history of Russia from ancient times to the present day will be presented, as well as the publication of literature and the filming of a film about Luke of Crimea, the script for which Vladyka Tikhon is preparing.
As Sergei Aksyonov noted, the personality and legacy of the saint — an outstanding surgeon and theologian — are of particular importance for the medical community.
In this regard, among other things, it is planned to build a complex for holding specialized medical conferences, symposiums, and educational events. In general, the spiritual and cultural space being created in Simferopol will contribute to the development of the city as a place of attraction for guests of Crimea: pilgrims, tourists, everyone who is interested in and cherishes the history of the countrysaid the Head of the Republic.
Sergei Aksyonov expressed words of gratitude to Vladyka Tikhon and the Crimean Metropolis for their work for the benefit of the republic and its inhabitants: “I thank Vladyka for his work in the field of enlightenment, education and charity. I am confident that by combining the efforts of the Church, authorities and society, we will achieve significant results in the preservation and development of the spiritual and historical heritage of Crimea.”
In turn, Vladyka Tikhon emphasized that Saint Luke is extremely revered not only in Russia, but throughout the world.
A huge number of pilgrims are already coming to Crimea, and if we prepare and present an interesting church, historical, civil and educational center, then their number will only increase. Undoubtedly, such a center could become one of the most attractive places in Simferopol and in Crimea as a whole.– says the Head of the Crimean Metropolis.
The event was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina, the Minister of Housing Policy and State Construction Supervision of the Republic of Crimea — the chief architect of the Republic of Crimea Nikita Tarasov, the head of the administration of the city of Simferopol Mikhail Afanasyev, and others.
