The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has completed a criminal investigation against three residents of the peninsula accused of kidnapping with violence, for mercenary reasons, committed by an organized group, as well as extortion on an especially large scale (clause “a”, part 3 of article 126, clause “a”, “b”, part 3 of article 163 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
An investigator of the investigative department for the city of Saki established that three men as part of an organized group, knowing about the debt obligations of their friend, decided to kidnap him for the purpose of extorting money.
The roles in the criminal group were clearly distributed. The accomplices developed a plan to commit the crime. In February of this year, they fraudulently organized a meeting in one of the cafes in the city of Yevpatoria, from where, against his will, they put him in a car and took him to a warehouse.
While holding the man, the attackers struck him numerous blows to the head and torso, accompanying the actions with illegal demands for the transfer of funds in the amount of 8 million rubles.
The criminal actions of the organized group were identified by operational officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
During the investigation of the criminal case, all the circumstances of the crime were established and a sufficient evidence base was collected. The investigation has now been completed. The materials were sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
