In Kerch, a driver who knocked down an elderly pedestrian to death was relatively mildly punished
In Kerch, the court delivered a verdict in a criminal case against a local resident. He was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation by a person driving another mechanical vehicle of the rules of the road, which negligently caused the death of a person).
During the judicial investigation, it was established that a 42-year-old man, driving a scooter, hit an 83-year-old man at an unregulated pedestrian crossing, as a result of which the latter died from his injuries in hospital— reported in the Crimean prosecutor’s office.
The Kerch city court, taking into account the position of the public prosecutor, the circumstances mitigating the punishment of the convict, sentenced the man to 2 years of imprisonment on probation with a probationary period of 2 years, with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving a vehicle for a period of 2 years. The verdict did not enter into force.
