In KFU — testing for HIV infection
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Voluntary anonymous testing for HIV infection is taking place at the Crimean Federal University.
The number of people infected with HIV and AIDS is increasing every year. Basically, this is a young population under 30 years old, which is appalling. Therefore, being tested is a measure of a person’s responsibility to their own health and the health of loved ones. Every citizen can check their HIV status in medical institutions free of charge and anonymously on any day, and on the basis of the university this action takes place twice a year: on the World AIDS Day, which is celebrated on December 1, and today, on the eve of the World Day of Remembrance for Victims AIDS, — the press service of the university quotes the chief specialist of the center for socio-psychological support of KFU. V. I. Vernadsky Tatiana Ponimaeva.
Medical volunteers work on the territory of the university. They distribute information sheets, which indicate the ways of transmission of the infection, as well as measures to prevent the disease.
Anyone can pass anonymous testing until 14:00 on May 17 at the address: Simferopol, Akademika Vernadsky Ave., 4. There is an ambulance near the main building of the university. Patients listen to the instructions of health workers, fill out a questionnaire and donate blood for analysis. The result is obtained after 15 minutes.
Timely detection of infection helps to stop the spread of the disease and start treatment in time.
The action is timed to the World Day of Remembrance for Victims of AIDS, which is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of May.
