In Sevastopol, a verdict was handed down in a bribery case at the city forensic bureau
Having agreed with the position of the state prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol, the court issued a guilty verdict in a criminal case against the former head of the Sevastopol City Bureau of Forensic Medicine, two orderlies and the head of the department — a forensic doctor of this institution, who is currently suspended from office.
The former head of the institution and the head of the department were found guilty under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale). The orderlies were convicted under Part 5 of Art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on an especially large scale). It was established that orderlies paid bribes to the leadership of the State Budgetary Institution of Health Services «SGB SME» for permission to perform post-mortem makeup on the bodies of the deceased for a fee from their relatives. In the period from January 2023 to July 2024, the former head of the bureau and the head of the department received illegal remuneration totaling over 4.3 million rubles.
The criminal activities of these persons were identified and suppressed by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and the Economic Security and Pilling Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, with the force support of the Russian Guard. The investigation was carried out by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol sentenced the former head of the Sevastopol City Bureau of Forensic Medicine to 9 years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony with a fine of 10,765,000 rubles. The head of the department, a forensic doctor at this institution, was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 8 years and 6 months to be served in a high-security correctional colony with a fine of 10,780,000 rubles. They are also deprived of the right to engage in certain activities in the civil service system, state and municipal institutions for 5 years.
In addition, the amounts of bribes received were confiscated from them to the state.
The orderlies were fined 3.5 million rubles each.
The seizure imposed on the property of the perpetrators was left unchanged. In total, 5 plots of land, a share in an apartment, two cars, a trailer, about 6.5 million rubles, over 21.2 thousand US dollars and several banknotes of other foreign countries were seized.
