In Sevastopol, fraud in the construction of housing with damage exceeding 42 million rubles is being investigated
An investigator of the investigative unit of the Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in relation to a 39-year-old businessman who failed to fulfill his obligations to his clients to build individual residential houses.
According to the investigation, in the period from 2023 to 2024, the suspect, being one of the leaders of the Domus company, offered citizens real estate construction services, entered into contracts with them and received advance payments from them. Despite promises to hand over finished housing within 120 days, the houses were not fully built. In some cases, walls were erected; in others, construction was completed at the stage of pouring the foundation. 25 residents of Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea were recognized as victims in the criminal case. Currently, the investigator has appointed 25 construction and technical forensic examinations of unfinished facilities to determine the final amount of damage caused. However, according to preliminary estimates, it amounts to more than 42 million rubles— the details of the case were announced in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
The attacker was detained by employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol with the force support of the special forces of the Russian Guard «Berkut-S». During searches at his place of residence, documents, computer equipment and other items of evidentiary value in the criminal case were confiscated.
At the request of the investigator, the property of the defendant and his affiliates was seized in the amount of about 2 million rubles.
The investigation into the criminal case continues; the involvement of other company managers in the fraudulent scheme, as well as other citizens who suffered from illegal activities, is being established.
