In Sevastopol, police detained a suspect in a series of thefts from summer cottages

In Sevastopol, two local residents applied to the police department for the Gagarinsky district with a statement about the theft of power tools from the adjacent garden associations of the city. Law enforcement officers established that an unknown person penetrated the territory of summer cottages in the evening, after which, using a crowbar, he squeezed the door or broke the window, and climbed inside. From the premises, the attacker stole power tools totaling more than 45 thousand rubles.
During the operational-search activities, the criminal investigation officers identified and detained the suspect. It turned out to be a 23-year-old local resident, who had previously been prosecuted for a similar crime. He pleaded guilty and said that after committing the crimes, he used the services of a taxi and left home with someone else’s property.— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The attacker sold all the stolen power tools to a thrift store, and spent the proceeds on his own needs. A criminal case was initiated against the defendant under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
