In Sevastopol, the overhaul of the chest building of City Hospital No. 5 is being completed

In Sevastopol, a major overhaul of the second block of the thoracic building of city hospital No. 5 — the Center for Maternal and Child Health — is nearing completion. The facility plays an important role in the pediatric care system: it is here that medical support is provided to newborns and young children, as well as their mothers. Repair work is being carried out within the framework of the state program “Healthcare Development in the City of Sevastopol” and is aimed at creating a modern, safe and comfortable environment for providing high-quality medical care.

The overhaul project provides for a complete replacement of cold and hot water supply pipelines, renewal of heating networks and installation of new heating equipment, installation of modern sewerage, as well as installation of ventilation with multi-stage air filtration. The complex of electrical installation works also included the installation of an automatic fire and security alarm system, a video surveillance system and access control. All systems are designed with energy efficiency and redundancy in mind—for trouble-free operation in any environment. A partial repair of the passage between buildings has been carried out — this will improve logistics and reduce the time it takes for personnel to move.

By the end of October, builders will install a modern lift to the second floor for transporting small patients and organize a vestibule elevator module that provides controlled and safe access to the wards.

To date, the bulk of construction and installation work has been completed. Now specialists are carrying out commissioning activities for all engineering systems — ventilation, alarms, video surveillance, intercom and others. At the same time, general cleaning of the premises is carried out.

At the same time, technical documentation is being prepared, inspections are carried out for compliance with sanitary and fire safety standards, and conclusions of supervisory authorities are drawn up. After all stages are completed, the building will be officially put into operation and will begin accepting patients.

The project was not easy — major renovations were carried out in a building built according to old standards, but to the requirements of modern medicine. This imposed serious engineering and architectural restrictions. We completed the task using modern construction solutions and certified materials to create a safe and functional environment for staff and the youngest patients,” commented a representative of the contractor.

According to the customer’s representative, the Unified Directorate of Capital Construction, the chest building of Hospital No. 5 is a strategically important facility for the city. The overhaul was planned taking into account many years of operational load and new requirements of sanitary standards. The work was carried out in constant collaboration with the designers, contractor and medical institution. As a result, the city will receive a modern, technologically advanced building that fully meets the challenges of providing medical care to children.

The work is scheduled to be completed in November 2025.
